Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of departmental operations for the
Planning and Programming of production CNC machining jobs for vertical mills, horizontal mills and
turning centers.
This is a “Working” lead position and in conjunction with managing a staff of approximately 4-6
individuals, this individual will also be expected to perform duties as a Planner/Programmer.
Requirements:
Responsibilities will include:
• Department Scheduling, Work assignment, Process development & Job planning.
• Employee review, oversight and training.
• Development and planning of technical advancement and the broadening of technical capabilities within the department.
• Standardization of Programming and Manufacturing techniques.
• Overall departmental output and performance.
Departmental responsibilities include:
• Drawing/3D model review for details and discrepancies, make suggestions for changes that will increase manufacturability.
• Design robust yet inexpensive work holding techniques and fixtures that work well in a lean production environment with a flow type manufacturing process.
• Select cost effective cutting tools to balance cycle time and tool life with cutting performance and overall cost.
• Efficiently and quickly produce high quality programs, for medium to high complexity parts.
• Produce programs that can be set-up with little or no troubleshooting on the shop floor.
• Meet or exceed cycle time estimates from our estimating department.
• Document the manufacturing process in our ERP software with detailed instructions on how to set-up and run the job.
• Develop and document in-process inspection criteria to ensure conformity over the run of parts.
• Occasionally set-up own jobs and help set-up machinists with your programs.
Minimum requirements for this position:
• 5 plus years of programming complex CNC milled parts, both 3 and 4 axis. Most CAM software experience will be considered.
• Proven history of strong communication and leadership skills.
• Proven ability to develop robust trouble-free manufacturing plans and CNC programs.
• Strong customer focus and a high degree of motivation to work in a fast–paced environment.
• Excellent general computer skills and an interest in expanding those skills.
• Personal ownership in the successes and shortcomings of the assigned projects as a whole.
• Must be a “US person” and can meet requirements to work on ITAR projects.
Additional items that would aid in your success:
• Experience with Pro/E and Pro/MANUFACTURING
• Programming experience for CNC lathes with live tooling
• 5 axis CNC mill programming experience.
