Pro CNC Founders win Young Alumnus of the Year at WWU

March 2011 - Pro CNC Founders win Young Alumnus of the Year at WWU

Pro CNC Co-Founders Kelsey Heikoop and Paul Van Metre have been been awarded as the Young Alumnus of the Year in 2011 for Western Washington University in Bellingham WA. This award identifies high achieving young alumni (age 39 or younger) who have distinguished themselves in an exceptional way at an early age and confirms that it does not necessarily take a lifetime to make a mark on society. Paul Van Metre graduated from WWU in 1996 and Kelsey Heikoop graduated in 1997. Both attended the Vehicle Research Insititute (VRI) and worked closely together designing and building cars during their time at Western. Since graduating the two have built Pro CNC to be a large employeer in the Bellingham area providing 60 above average wage jobs. Both have continued to stay active with their Alma Mater with continuous and ongoing donations of materials and tools to the VRI, offering internships to students and recent grads, donating machining services for active VRI projects, providing consulting and advising to the VRI and offering student tours to see a real manufacturing environment. Pro CNC is a member of the Alumni Associations President's Club at WWU. An awards ceremony will be held in May on the WWU campus.
